Death Blast Fatality
The 25-year-old girl in whose apartment the gas explosion occurred last week in Alicante died of her injuries last night in Alicante’s General Hospital. She was in the Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital, with 80-degree burns and severe respiratory problems, whilst her 31-year-old boyfriend has been transferred to Valencia’s La Fe Hospital as police wait to question him. Meanwhile, what remains of the building will be demolished today after a survey carried out by Alicante Town Hall revealed that it was too dangerous to rebuild what was left. Also being pulled down are the houses situated either side of where the explosion occurred. Equally, due to the dangers involved, no machinery will be used and the dismantling of the building will be undertaken manually as this will also enable many of the belongings to be recovered.
