Welcome to Christmas in Valencia!

Here in Valencia, the sun tends to shine on Christmas Day and there's lots of fun to be had as normal. The Spanish tend to celebrate Christmas Eve with family get togethers, dinners and making lots of noise. Christmas day has traditionally been less boisterous with the main present giving day being Los Reyes Magos (The three wise/magic kings) on 6th January. Many towns and villages have processions on the evening of 6th January for Los Reyes Magos - when the three kings arrive at their town. The processions tend to be fairly spectacular and, fairly typically for Spain, notoriously late.

These days, there tends to be present giving on Christmas Day as well as on Los Reyes Magos - so be prepared!

The Xativa Trading Post currently have a large stock of traditional Christmas Decorations and some great gift ideas (I have my eye on their giant garden games, childrens adventure playgrounds and go-karts) - worth a look: MORE...

El Corte Ingles (most of them in Valencia - including the one near the City of Arts and Sciences) have a gourmet food section where you are likely to be able to get hold of the more esoteric Christmas foods, snacks and drinks. They tend to have a superb wine selection and much of their gourmet products would make great gifts. MORE...

The Carrefour chain have also geared up for Christmas and have some wonderfully priced gifts, snacks, food and drinks. There are quite a few Carrefour hypermarket stores in the Community of Valencia, so here's a list of stores with links to help you find out where your nearest is and the opening times etc. - happy shopping...
