Valencia, Spain
Viva Valencia!
Valencia is one of the biggest cities in Spain and is full of life! Birthplace of the famous Paella and home of fun and fiesta, this is a must visit destination.
Valencia offers a surprising contrast of city life and beach life, with Arenas and Malvarossa beaches both just a few minutes away from the city centre, meaning you really do get the best of both worlds! There are also a wide variety of other beaches to choose from in surrounding areas. The beaches are packed with activities such as watersports and even have cycling, tennis and golf facilities. You will see many roller skaters, joggers and walkers taking advantage of the ‘Paseo Marítimo’, a promenade which runs along the length of both beaches. Don’t worry though, the less active of you seeking relaxation can simply soak up the Spanish Sunshine!
Ideal for all ages is the Oceanographic Park, the largest Aquarium in Europe. In the submarium you can see lots of marine life including, sharks, dolphins and even killer whales. This is a must for a great day out!
Moving back to city life, ‘Barrio del Carmen’ is one area of the city, which is definitely worth a visit. It is full of shops, café bars and restaurants, an ideal place to relax with a sangria after a hard day spending your euros in the many shops.
The ‘old city’ of Valencia is stepped in Spanish culture and is contained within the Moorish walls and the ancient outer ring of the city. There are many historical remains, archaeological sites and religious buildings here, don’t forget your camera!
Football fanatics may wish to soak up the atmosphere in the Mestalla Stadium, home of Valencia FC, whilst the clubbers of you out there will not be disappointed, Valencia is home to many fantastic clubs both in the city centre and around the beach area. ‘Calle Juan Llorens’ is one area of the city in particular where good nightclubs allow you to dance the night away.
