A nation mourns the passing of Rocio Jurado
It was 6 o’clock this morning when Amador Mohedano, the brother of Rocio Jurado, stated that the singer had passed away some 45 minutes earlier.
Born in Chipiona in Seville Province. Miss Jurado started her career singing flamenco, but due to her popularity, soon branched out into popular songs and film appearances. One of her most notable recordings was the album “Rocio de Luna Blanca” (1990) whilst she will equally be remembered for her performance in the 1993 film “Lola Se Va A Los Puertos”.
It was with considerable public courage that she revealed during a press conference in September of 2004 that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, after undergoing a nine-hour operation in a Madrid Clinic. Later, she was a consistent patients at the Anderson Clinic in Houston in Texas, finally returning to Spain in March this year. Rocio Jurado was 61.
The Valencia Trader offer their sympathies to the family and friend of Rocio Jurado who's music is often played here in the VT offices. She will be missed but her music will last forever.
