Moors and Christians in Altea
The autumn is coming and as with every year the Altea Christians are up against the Moorish armies in a friendly battle.
The autumn is beginning and Altea is getting all decked out, from 26th - 30th September you can enjoy the most spectacular fiestas. The entrances, the battles, the festive sounds and colours will flood the city during these days in a fiesta that the white town holds in honour of Cristo de Sagrario and Sant Blai.
On Friday, after the gathering of the Moor and Christian groups and of the fiesta commission in the square called Plaza de José María Planelles in front of the City Hall and after the local fiesta opening speech, the fiesta will officially begin.
The Moor Embassy and the first entrance will be the main events of the Saturday. On Sunday the fiesta will revolve around the religious acts in honour of a Cristo del Sagrario, such as the procession or the mass.
On Monday the Christian Embassy, alardo and surrender will be the prologue to the second entrance which will be held that same afternoon. On Tuesday the main event will be the historical representation of the surrender of Al-Azraq which will be brought to a close with the fraternity afternoon.
