Earthrace
On 1st March 2008, from Sagunto, Earthrace will attempt to set a new speed record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe fueled by 100% biodiesel, to increase awareness of the environment and the sustainable use of resources.
They will attempt to break the current world record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe is currently 74 days, 23 hours and 53 minutes. This record was set by UK boat ‘Cable & Wireless Adventurer’ in 1998.
Currently the proposed race route is:
Valencia - Azores - Puerto Rico - Panama Canal – Manzanillo, Mexico – San Diego, USA – Hawaii – Majuro, Marshall Islands – Koror, Palau – Singapore – Cochin, India – Salalah, Oman - Suez Canal - Valencia
